Kiwi Slice Tutorial by QueEnOfNights Kiwi Slice Tutorial by QueEnOfNights
I'm back with another tutorial! =D

Anyway, sorry for the bad photo quality, too much sunlight today...

If anyone wonders why the white parts of my kiwi slices don't look like they're supposed to - It's mainly because when I did step 9, at first I accidentally pinched the wrong (upper) end and now it's all messed up! :(
I hope you like it anyway. Doesn't have to look that bad in the end...

How do you slice them after baking, wouldn't the clay be too hard to cut?

Not if you use something really sharp to cut it, like a razor blade :)

I've been studying your tutorials - very clear and concise, thank you! - after ruining a lot of fimo clay trying to work things out by myself. :( Is there any chance you might make a banana cane tutorial too? *flutters eyelashes hopefully*

Sorry for the late reply!

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you find the tutorials helpful.

Actually I was thinking about making a banana slice tutorial for quite some time now, but the one time I tried it, it didn't work out as I accidentally stepped on my cane .____. Haha...
Might give it another try, though xD

how on earth would you cut it AFTER its baked?

Well it's possible, actually most people I know cut it after baking. You just need a very sharp cutting tool like a razor blade.
You shouldn't bake it for too long and then cut it directly after baking when it's still warm =D

Do you bake it for like 15 mins?

QueEnOfNights Featured By Owner Jun 2, 2011
Yes, but of course that depends on the kind of clay you're using. 15 minutes is all right for fimo canes, I don't know about Sculpey and other brands.

Sculpey is 15 minutes in all to cook it NORMALLY...is that how it is with FIMO?

FIMO is 30 minutes, but when it comes to thin canes 15-20 minutes is enough =D

Aww very nice tutorial! Thanks for posting :huggle: I have a question, when is better slice it after or before baking it?

Sorry for the late reply!

Both is possible, but personally, I always cut it after baking. Yet than only works when the cane is quite thin, otherwise it's too hard to cut them. And you should use razor blades or something similar. In that case it's easiest to cut them directly after baking when they canes are still warm.

Of course you can also cut it before baking, it's much easier, but the cane gets all messed up quite easily because it's so soft. Then again some people put it in the freezer for a few minutes before cutting it, I suppose that helps a bit!

I love your tutorials! Maybe mixing the green with tlc makes it look a bit more realistic, what do you think?

QueEnOfNights Featured By Owner May 10, 2011
I suppose it would, but personally I've never used tlc in that case before. Wouldn't it make the clay a little sticky? I always add translucent clay, I guess the effect is just the same!
